Off-grid, Fish Camp Island
When friend, colleague, and acclaimed landscape architect Susan Hall came to Altman Architects with this project in the Florida Keys, Bobby Altman started researching the possibilities immediately. From the start the off-grid island had what would be considered by some, impracticable characteristics- located in the most environmentally sensitive protected marine areas of South Florida. To Bobby Altman impossibilities were seen as opportunity to be part of a world class team of engineers, consultants, architects, and designers to design a passive tropical family friendly fish camp. Steven Strong of Solar Design Associates, a leading engineer in the field of Alternate Energy in the US was a major influence in the design.
Mexican Inspired Living Room
After years of avoiding and never using the formal living room, our clients came to Bobby Altman with a desire to capture their culture in a living room that would be used. The Mexican inspired two story space, living room with loft work space and corridor to master bedroom, incorporated rich tiles, substantial wood headers, deep paint colors, candles, and authentic ornamental metal work. The continuing education classes, Mexico: Architecture & Design and Colors & Lighting in interior environments, assisted Bobby Altman in designing the space with appropriate proportions, arches, and fine detailing.
